Before I owned an iPad Pro, I used to write physical notes and then scan them into PDF so that I can have a softcopy as backup. Now let’s discuss the difference between physical and digital notes. Whilst typing is that it is undoubtedly faster and more efficient, I only do so for concepts that are purely memory-based, or for those that I have already understood after annotating my lecture notes/materials with my own handwriting. Therefore, when learning new concepts, I always annotate my lecture slides/materials by hand before I even begin typing anything. The benefit of handwriting is that it is slower as compared to typing and this gives me more time to conceptualise and internalise what I am writing as compared to just mindlessly typing away.
